Bhutan Nuns Foundation

Her Majesty, the Queen Mother, Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck visited several nunneries in the Southern and Eastern parts of Bhutan in March 2012.

It was a fulfilling trip where Her Majesty met with the nuns and spoke to them about their important roles in the society. Few of those nunneries are the beneficiaries of BNF’s efforts to improve their living conditions and in improving their learning and living environments in the form of providing teachers, running water, kitchens and bathrooms.

Her Majesty visited every part of their living compound and also shared with them that it is important to keep kitchen garden and grow their own fresh vegetables while they perform their daily routines. The BNF distributed  vegetable seeds to the nunneries so that they could have their own vegetable gardens.
