Changing Futures

Bhutan has taken a unique path to joining the modern world, preserving its Buddhist culture, traditions and natural resources on its own terms. The precepts of Gross National Happiness (GNH) have become an internationally known philosophy, a balanced approach to change and progress.

As the country faces its future, the Bhutan Nuns Foundation (BNF) will continue to support nuns, women and girls and increase their value and participation in society. The new Training Resource Centre buildings and programmes undoubtedly will continue to evolve and innovate for years into the future.

The BNF sees several ways forward and next steps:

  • Developing a Team of Trainers – building capacity by bringing together experts in training design and delivery modes, organizing workshops to build hands-on expertise among BNF trainers
  • Training Design and “Train the Trainers” – creating content strategies and outcomes that provide more value every year, and reaching out beyond the TRC to nunneries and communities, using Master Trainers to develop a larger pool of trainers capable to lead trainings at the field level.
  • Dissemination and Advocacy – reaching out to potential participants (nuns and nunneries, women and girls in the community) and helping them learn about the messages and opportunities offered by the Training Centre, through strategies and materials such as banners, posters, leaflets, slogans, and community meetings, etc.
  • Funding and Collaborations – the BNF actively seeks partnerships and collaborations with like-minded institutions and organizations, both within Bhutan and internationally. The intention is to further develop and enhance our institutional and technical capabilities, so the TRC can effectively design, deliver and promote its activities and outcomes, and thus positively impact society in the long run.

With your help, the Bhutan Nuns Foundation will continue to support nuns, women and girls in Bhutanese society, through programmes of the TRC carried forward to communities throughout the country. Please click here to learn other ways you can help, and be a part of this effort.
